It's been confirmed, the next Shiba Meetup will be  SUNDAY, May 30th from 12pm-2pm in the off-leash area at David Gray Park in Burnaby – McKay Avenue and Rumble Street. The event will be held rain or shine so dress accordingly. Please follow the link below for the location and maps of the park. Click on the Shiba icon on the first map, and it will give you directions to the park. Parking is available on McKay Avenue, on either side of the street. There is an entrance to the dog park right on McKay Avenue.  Directions

There will be another raffle for a gift basket at this Meetup – see photo below. As always, 100% of the money raised from the sale of tickets will be donated to the BC SPCA. A huge thank you to all the people who donated items at the April and past Meetups. Your generations donations have helped in the creation of these baskets which in turn, supports animals in need. I have enough stuff to make at least 2-3 more gift baskets for future raffles. Donations are always welcome and whatever I am unable to use, I give to my local animal shelter.

There will be dog treats/cookies for sale at the Meetup. Definitely some duck jerky as it always sell out and some of Astrid's tuna dog treats. If I have the time, I will try to make up a batch of disgusting, I mean yummy liver brownies for the Sheebs. I gag when making them while Koshi and Barkley sit in the kitchen drooling and watching my every move. Please consider buying a bag or two of treats and help support Vancouver Shiba so that we can continue organizing the Meetups you all enjoy so much. Thank you!

Hello everyone,

What a great Meetup on Sunday! We got lucky with the weather again an awesome turn out. There were 50 confirmed Shibas but I think there may have been even more that just forgot to sign-in at the registration table. We had 11 first timers at the Meetup, I hope you had fun and enjoyed yourselves!

I have to say that this was one of the best Meetups yet! The Sheebs were all on their best behaviour and even my crabby ol' Koshi seemed to be having a good time. I think this is the first Meetup in a very long time where he didn't need a time out. He was a good boy!

I would like to thank my two volunteers for the April Meetup. A big thanks to Astrid for providing the dog treats and one to Janet for selling the tickets for the gift basket. We raised $209 for the BC SPCA and it will be added to the money we've raised from previous Meetups. The money will be donated this September when the SPCA holds their annual "Paws for a Cause" fundraiser. I will be organizing another Vancouver Shiba team for the 2010 event and I am hoping we can top the amount we raised in 2009 which was an amazing $5700!! The SPCA will kick off their 2010 campaign in June, watch for more info in future emails.

See you all in a month's time! I'm pretty sure the next Meetup will be Sunday, May 30th but I will send out another group email once it's confirmed. But until then, get outside and go have fun with your dogs!

At every Meetup I try to raise money for the BC SPCA on behalf of Vancouver Shiba. For the April meet, there will be a raffle for a gift basket with 100% of the proceeds to go to the BC SPCA.  Photos of the gift basket to follow in a future email.

There will be dog treats/cookies available at the Meetup provided by one of our members – By purchasing a bag of treats, you are supporting Vancouver Shiba and helping cover the many costs associated with organizing the meets and the registration and ongoing maintenance of our website.
