Hello everyone,
Due to my busy schedule I was unable to organize a Meetup for September so I am having an early October Meetup. Here's the date: **SATURDAY**, October 2nd from 12pm – 2pm in the off-leash area at David Gray Park in Burnaby – McKay Avenue and Rumble Street. Parking is available on McKay Avenue, on either side of the street. There is an entrance to the dog park right on McKay Avenue. Directions
If the weather isn't too wet or miserable, I will have the registration/sign-in table up and running with a few treats and items for sale. If it's really gross out, the Meetup will still go on but there won't be a table, therefore no sign-in. I will not be having a raffle or 50/50 draw at this Meetup.
For those of you who missed out on Paws for a Cause this year, here's the Flickr link to Eric's photos taken from the event. It was wet and miserable and the Shibas were none too impressed with the rain but they put on a brave, collective face and did the walk anyway! A big thank you to everyone who participated in the walk and to all those who donated money to a great cause. Team Vancouver Shiba raised over $3100 and was third place overall in the province for most money raised by a team.
This will most likely be the last Meetup of 2010 and possibly the last Meetup for Vancouver Shiba. I don't know at this time if I will continue to organize Meetups in 2011. I will consider organizing one or two Meetups next Spring/Summer but right now, I really need an extended break. It's just too much work and commitment for one person when there are close to 300 members. I do thank all the people that have volunteered in the past, you've been a great help. Thanks for all your support and for now, we'll see what the future will bring.
I will still be available for contact as a resource/advice, for walks and hikes, small Shiba playdates (as long as don't have to organize them myself), etc. If I'm notified of a Shiba in need of a new home or a missing Shiba, I will still send a group email as needed to spread the word.
