Hello everyone,
We lucked out on the weather yet again! The confirmed number of Shibas was 69, our largest Meetup yet! I know there were a lot more because quite a few people forgot to sign-in/register and pull their card.
I want to thank Janet & Katrina for helping sell tickets for the raffle. We raised $235 for the BC SPCA, the most money yet from a raffle! Congratulations to Gloria, Jacky & Skippy for winning the gift basket!

Thanks to all who bought dog treats and made a donation to Vancouver Shiba. We were able to renew the lease on VancouverShiba.com domain for two more years because of your generosity. Another thank you for the continued donations to make future gift baskets – there will be another raffle for a basket at the June Meetup and most likely for July.
The BC SPCA is just starting to kick off their annual "Paws for a Cause" fundraiser for 2010. More information to come as I will be organizing another Shiba team for this year. We raised an outstanding $5700 for the Burnaby SPCA in 2009 and over $3000 in 2008 for the Vancouver SPCA. I think 2009 will be pretty hard to top but we can sure try!
I've been having a lot of requests lately for a Meetup on a Saturday… I'm thinking of having one in June. I will tentatively set the date for SATURDAY, June 26th. I'll send out a group officially announcing the date in another week or two.
Eric was busy capturing all those fantastic Shiba moments on film and his photos are now up on Flickr. Enjoy!
See you all at the next Meetup!

*** UPDATE ***
We received notice today that Sumo has been reunited with his owner and is now back at home.
Hi everyone,
I've been contacted by a Meetup member who's friend has lost her Shiba. "Sumo Lam" went missing on Saturday, May 8th around 12:30pm in the area of 157th Street and 88th Avenue, Surrey.

Sumo Lam is a red, neutered male and he is 16 months old. He was wearing a black harness with a bell and he has a tattoo on his belly. He is wearing this same harness in the photo shown below.

If you have seen Sumo or have any information please contact:
Tina at 604-780-2111 or 604-961-9462 immediately.
Thank you,
Jen
